For
getting any work done relating to House, we need to be selective, in choosing a
right person for the right job. In fact,
lot of significance need to be given for selecting the right person for
carrying out the work on ‘contract’.
Perhaps
it will depend on the quality of the work and the final outcome, would largely depend on such selection. While selecting, one must invariably take
into consideration various aspects about the contractor, including the
reputation and the experience in the given field, updating of the knowledge to
the current needs and trends also required to survive in the current
competitive world. No doubt above all, honesty in the work pays and it only
make the contractor popular among both the employees and the owners. In fact, at the beginning, it is very
difficult to choose the right person to get the work done.
In
this connection, we suggest a few factors which may be handy, in choosing a
right person for house contact. It is needless to emphasize that after spending
huge lot of money in getting the works done, we should not repent, if the same
has not been got done or not completed, according to our taste and/or if
anything has happened resulting in either removal of certain structure or
changing of pattern.
1. Keep record: when you search for a
specialist for a particular service it is necessary to monitor his previous
performance and the track record on the particular service. The record should
include the time frame he is taking to complete a particular task and his skills
in the field. If necessary we need to ask for the previous customers contact
details to decide on the selection right one. He should be able to customize
our ideas on the work. While customizing the given cost of target should not be
overlooked and he should be able to tell the overall cost of the service before
taking the job. And particularly the time frame should be clearly mentioned
before he starts the job. If it is not finished at the stipulated time the cost
overheads will go beyond our budget and it can be said as mismanagement.
2. Quality of work: He should be able to
provide the work with quality materials and in case where are we providing the
materials the wastage should be minimized to the lowest levels. The
finishing should be good standard only.
3. Legal check: the contractor should be
free from any court cases and other legal matters. Permits and qualifications
to be checked to do the job effectively. If anyone does the electrical work
without proper certification from the authorities, then the authorities may
reject the license or compensation on the work if anything goes wrong.
4. Combined effort: the work has to be
done with his experience and the owners ideas are to be implemented without any
deviation. And a proper agreement has to be made to do the work and it has to
contain the work details and the time frame and the quality of the materials.
Only with the combined efforts the work would be done to the satisfaction of
the owner and the quality depends on the contractor’s experience.
5. Issue management skills: on doing the
service or job it is necessary to have the capability to handle the issues
arising on the technical part of the service.
